Alonzo King LINES Ballet Benefit for WHP on April 10, 2015

WHP teamed up with LINES Ballet once again this year on Friday, April 10, 2015 to raise awareness and support WHP’s work at the front line of supporting powerful women living with HIV in the community. The event, held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, sold out completely and was a huge success!

Alonzo King LINES Ballet Benefit for Women’s HIV Program

The LINES Ballet teamed up with the Women’s HIV Program (WHP) again in 2013 to raise critical awareness about the skyrocketing HIV epidemic among women of color and to support WHP’s work at the front line of the epidemic. The event featured a pre-performance reception and an after-performance Q&A with Alonzo King, Founder & Artistic Director, Alonzo King LINES Ballet as well as Dr. Edward Machtinger, Director of WHP.

Dancing with the Clown of Love

“Dancing with the Clown of Love” is an exploration of life and love in the age of AIDS. collaboration between Rhodessa Jones and the Women’s HIV Program created an innovative performance collaboration that ran March 4 – 14, 2010. For the past 5 years, Ms. Jones has worked with women from WHP and the Family Service Network to explore their experiences with love and life and to express their personal stories through spoken word, performance, dance and music.

The Women’s HIV Program at UCSF has provided over 20 years of comprehensive care for women and adolescents living with HIV. Additionally, WHP conducts extensive research into trauma-informed primary care.
