Educating future leaders in our community is the first step in establishing an effective response to the AIDS crisis amongst women.
WHP is involved in education at many levels. This includes being at the forefront of the education of future health professionals being trained at UCSF. We host a wide variety of learners in clinic to show them firsthand how to effectively care for HIV-positive women and girls. Such leaders include medical students and residents, pharmacy students and residents, as well as nursing students. WHP also has an internship program for pre-medical students interested in a career in HIV/AIDS care.
Clinicians at WHP also lecture widely about the epidemic locally, nationally, and internationally. The research from WHP has also been covered widely in the press including on The Voice of America/NPR, the San Francisco Chronicle, and in many other publications.
